Certification of tank containers is a prerequisite before using containers and loading goods from them. In order to provide customers with the opportunity to use, container owners must submit containers for certification in a timely manner. At the request of the inspecting authorities, technical documentation should be submitted, tests conducted, measurements made, defects identified.
Examination of tank containers, as well as control over the technical condition of containers, is carried out under two programs:
- PEP (Periodical Examination Program) - a program for periodically examining containers;
- ACEP (Approved Continues Examination Program) - a program of continuous survey of containers.
In accordance with the first program, the inspection of new containers is made by the inspector of the Classification Society. In order to carry out a full detailed inspection,
the container is exposed to specialized sites, where the inspector performs the inspection. The first regular inspection of the container is made 5 years after its construction, then the containers are inspected every 2.5 years.
The ACEP survey allows container owners, either independently or with the assistance of an independent survey company, to inspect tank containers. The first regular inspection of the container is made 5 years after its construction, then containers are inspected every 2.5 years, as well as for the periodic inspection program of containers. The advantage of this type of survey is the ability to plan the inspection of containers in a convenient place and at a convenient time, without removing the container from commercial operation.
Maintenance and certification of tank containers is the responsibility of the owner and is his responsibility. It is necessary to eliminate defects, malfunctions, make modifications in time. When modifications are made to the regulatory authorities, all related documentation is provided, if necessary, tests are performed and a new assumption is issued.
